The Simple Things

I love Jesslyn’s encouragement to appreciate the simple things each week. Since it’s my birthday today, I’ve had an extra special lot to be grateful for.

My new kitten, Emily, and the sweet husband who adopted her with me.
Susan, who took me out for lemon curd crepes, mimosas, and thrift store shopping today.
My momma, who helped us upgrade to the couch of our dreams (delivered today, how perfect!)
Sarah, who helped me take Emily to the vet for her first checkup, got my butt to the gym, and made these sailors knot bracelets with me!
All my friends, family and former students who took time to send me some love today. What more could a girl ask for?

About Me

I spend every day with some pretty fantastic teenagers, trying to get them to quit thinking about the answer and start thinking about the question. They are smart, funny, and hard working, and they inspire and uplift me regularly.

I married someone whose strengths are opposite mine, and he is the biggest blessing in my life. He keeps me from focusing on unimportant details, and helps me to see the bigger picture. I help him calculate tips.
He will be nearly deaf when he is old, and I will be nearly blind. We complement each other perfectly.

God is at work in me, so all the work I do is for Him. This is for good, because He uses all things for good.
